Kris Niewinski – President, Green Spaces Services
About the Presenter: Kris left Poland in 1985 with an M.Sc. Forestry after receiving a 1 year scholarship at University of Chicago. He immigrated to Canada in 1989 and enrolled in an M.Sc. program at the University of Toronto. He received a Canadian M.Sc. (Forestry) in 1991. He then held several positions with the BC Ministry of Forests. Lured by Oil and Gas prosperity Kris joined Husky Energy in 2007 in the Emergency Response and Upstream Environment Groups. In 2011 Kris was nominated as Chair of the European Environmental Agency – UNESCO Heritage Sites program. At that point he shared his time between Calgary and Brussels. This project led Kris to his Doctorate degree in Ecology and Public Policy in 2014.
Kris has over 30 years experience and has been involved in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The latest ESRI development of ArcGIS Online allowed Kris to build a Geospatial Comprehensive Emergency Response Information System.
Abstract:
ArcGIS Online is a cloud-based mapping platform that is accessible from many different locations. Organizations can subscribe to the platform and use it to manage, create, store, and access hosted services, maps and applications. Green Space Services ArcGIS Online Comprehensive Emergency Management System reduces the cost and time it takes to deploy resources in case of an emergency. The presentation will focus on data, analysis tools and functionality of the system.
