SUMMARY:Our next VIRTUAL CPANS LUNCHEON will be held on March 15th\, 2022 at noon MDT and is FREE!
DESCRIPTION:INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOCHEMICAL AIR QUALITY MODELLING\nThe link to the talk is HERE\nZoom Meeting ID: 822 4146 3250\nPasscode: 086583 \nClick the above link at noon on March 15th and we will be there!\nPlease forward this link to anyone that might be interested. \nAbstract: \nAir pollution scientists can investigate the causes of air pollution using measurements of the ambient air and the results of air quality modelling. While ambient measurements give an indication of how serious air pollution problems are\, but air quality models provide a detailed spatio-temporal pollutant concentration as well as allows testing different strategies for controlling air pollution. The issue of air pollution is complex due to the influence of medium and long-range transport of air pollutants and the need for mitigating secondary pollutants. The most effective way of testing control strategies in such situations is through regional photochemical air quality modelling. This presentation will cover basics of photochemical air quality modelling and the introduction to the tools SMOKE and CMAQ which are generally used for this purpose. \nPresenter: \nMujtaba Shareef is a senior air quality scientist at Alberta Energy Regulator and a sessional instructor at University of Calgary. He has over two decades of experience in the areas of air quality modelling\, ambient monitoring\, environmental impact assessments\, relevant policies\, and guidelines. He is currently involved with various air quality cumulative effects management initiatives in the province. His research interests include secondary air pollutants modelling\, source apportionment\, reduced form modelling\, and advanced air emissions data analysis. \n  \nRegistration and payment:\nNo need to register! If this email was forwarded to you\, please SUBSCRIBE to our luncheon mailing list.\nSee you at the luncheon!
