Edmonton January CPANS Luncheon
Overview of the Alberta Annual Emissions Inventory Reporting (AEIR) Program
About the Presentation:
An emissions inventory is a critical tool for understanding the type, quantity, and distribution of pollutants released into the atmosphere. Alberta’s Annual Emissions Inventory Reporting (AEIR) Program, launched in 2016, tracks air emissions from more than 400 large, EPEA-regulated industrial facilities across the province.
This presentation will provide an overview of the AEIR program, including reporting requirements, emission thresholds, and the types of data collected for both point and non-point sources. Attendees will gain insight into how AEIR data is used for regulatory applications, air quality modelling, trend analysis, and regional and national air quality assessments. Highlights from recent AEIR datasets, including emission trends and key findings, will also be discussed.
